Pinot gris - a great alternative white wine for your sacramental needs

Pinot gris (or Pinot Grigio, as it is known in Italy and California) is the best-known "white" mutation of the Pinot Noir grape. Pinot Gris grapes have a distinctive bluish-grey skin color which why the French gave it the name "gris" which means "grey" in French. Pinot Gris has become one of the most popular white wines in American today as people looked for an alternative to the oceans of Chardonnay that were the mainstay of the white wine market for several decades. This grape, a member of the Vitis vinifera family, comes from France where its home region is in Burgundy though the most famous examples hail from the Alsace region to the northeast. Today it is grown all over the world including here in Washington state where more and more producers are learning the benefits of working with this grape to make delicious wine.

Our Universal Life Church Sacramental Pinot Gris is the only one of its kind in the world - no one else makes a blessed pinot gris in the world today. Our Sacramental Pinot Gris is medium-bodied and shows notes of sun-ripened golden apples, bosc pears, pineapple, bananas and citrus, with almonds, cream and a hint of white pepper to round it out making this a complex yet truly enjoyable wine.
